Technical communications

Technology can be a very complex subject, made harder for outsiders to understand by the jargon technologists love to use.

Abbreviations, specialist terms and detail may make it easier for technologists to communicate with each other, but they also act as an effective barrier between technologists, business people and the public, making it harder for technology advocates to get the support and investment they need.

We can help you tell people about your technology. We'll explain the benefits it offers clearly, using language that's readily understood by less interested in the detail. We'll explain enough about how your technology works and how it can be applied for potential customers to understand why they should be interested. And we'll make sure people understand what distinguishes your technology from alternative approaches.

We can also help you produce user manuals and other documentation for technical products.

Now, what does that mean?

Even if your audience is likely to be familiar with your technology, it helps to briefly explain terms as they are introduced. However, make sure the explanation adds value.

While it may be interesting to know what the letters ADSL stand for, most people will find a brief explanation of what it is more helpful. For example, "ADSL - the technology that allows broadband services to be delivered to homes and offices over existing phone wires".
